Minister for Communities and Youth Lindy Nelson-Carr today attended the Citi Pointe Church, Mansfield, to present a $65,000 cheque to Red Frogs Australia.

“Red Frogs is a critical plank in the statewide Safer Schoolies initiative which trains and sends out volunteers to visit school leavers in their accommodation and out and about to provide a referral and mediation service,” Ms Nelson-Carr said.

“The Red Frogs crew are probably the most well-known and visible of the volunteer groups providing valuable support services to schoolies – and they all do a tremendous job,” she said.

Member for Mansfield Phil Reeves welcomed the funding and thanked Andy Gourley, National Director of Red Frogs Australia, and his team for continuing to provide this valuable service throughout the schoolies celebrations.

Red Frogs Australia is based at Mansfield and provides hotel chaplaincy services across Queensland during the schoolies celebrations.

“I would also like to thank Pastor Mark Ramsey of Citi Pointe Church for welcoming myself and Ms Nelson-Carr so warmly to the congregation today,” Mr Reeves said.

“The safety strategies developed by Red Frogs Australia help ensure school leavers celebrate safely, with minimal disruption to the local community.”
