Minister for Public Works, Housing and Information and Communication Technology
The Honourable Robert Schwarten

Public Works Minister Robert Schwarten today announced more than $27,000 in funding to replace roof sheeting and associated works to Block A at Biddeston State School.

Mr Schwarten said the funding – from the Department of Public Works’ emergency maintenance fund – was great news for the school community.

“A recent inspection of the roofing on Block A uncovered some of the existing roof sheeting was damaged,” Mr Schwarten said.

“This funding will allow for the damaged roofing to be removed and replaced and other associated works to be completed.

“The work will be programmed to be completed as soon as possible with every effort being made to minimise disruption to classes.”

Mr Schwarten said the emergency maintenance fund was developed to complement existing maintenance programs and specifically to undertake projects that arose in the course of the year or that were unable to be completed by the school because of the magnitude of the cost.

Mr Schwarten said QBuild – the State Government’s construction and maintenance division – would manage the project.

“This funding demonstrates the State Government’s commitment to properly maintaining public infrastructure for the benefit of the community,” Mr Schwarten said.
