The Honourable Neil Roberts
Fourteen ambulance paramedic recruits from overseas and interstate to the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) were formally welcomed by Emergency Services Minister Neil Roberts today.
Mr Roberts said the eight of the 14 recruits were from the United Kingdom, four from Victoria, and one each from the United States and New South Wales.
“These latest group of recruits will complete the induction process before start on-road training later this month,” Mr Roberts said.
“This is the fifth group of overseas paramedic recruits to join the QAS since last year. In total, there have been 78 overseas and interstate paramedics to go through the course.”
“The Queensland Ambulance Service boasts some of the most professional and highly trained paramedics in the world and I’m very pleased to welcome these new members,” Mr Roberts said.
“The Queensland Government has budgeted to employ an additional 250 ambulance officers this financial year to assist the QAS to meet the increased demand for ambulance services.”
“QAS anticipates more UK paramedics will make the move to the Sunshine State next year.”
