The Honourable Neil Roberts

Cloncurry-based Queensland Ambulance Service paramedic Gordon Jones has received a Meritorious Service Medal for his contribution to the State Emergency Service.

Attending the Queensland Government’s Community Cabinet meeting in Cloncurry today, Emergency Services Minister Neil Roberts presented Mr Jones with the 15 years’ service medal.

“Gordon joined the SES in 1988. He has completed an extensive range of training courses and he is now an SES instructor,” Mr Roberts said.

“In that time, Gordon has been a member of five SES groups. He is a paramedic with the Queensland Ambulance Service and also an auxiliary fire officer.”

“Gordon is being presented the Queensland State Emergency Service Meritorious Service Medal in recognition of 15 years of active commitment to the SES.”

Mr Roberts said SES volunteers made a valuable contribution to Queensland.

“The role of the SES has been highlighted by its response to Cyclone Larry last year, flooding on the Sunshine Coast earlier this year and recent storms. SES volunteers are called to assist thousands of Queenslanders each year,” he said.
