Mount Isa Queensland Ambulance Service officers Maree Shelton and Lynette Healy have been congratulated on receiving their Diplomas of Paramedical Science (Ambulance).

Emergency Services Minister Neil Roberts congratulated the officers on receiving their qualifications. The awarding of the Diploma is the completion of the student program to become a qualified Advanced Care Paramedic.

Maree Shelton joined the Queensland Ambulance Service in 2003 and she undertook paramedic training in the Logan area.

“Last year, Maree qualified as an Advanced Care Paramedic and moved to Bowen later that year. In February this year, Maree moved to Mount Isa.”

“Prior to joining the QAS, Maree served as a medical assistant with the RAAF for 14 years, during which time she was awarded the Australian Active Service Medal and the United Nations Medal as part of the Peace Keeping Force in East Timor. Maree was also awarded the Statement of Achievement.”

Lynette Healy has worked for the QAS since 2000 and started in Cairns in the communications area. She has been awarded an Australia Day Medal.

“In 2004, Lynette worked in a number of stations in the Cairns area before moving to Mount Isa in May 2007,” Mr Roberts said.
