The Honourable Kerry Shine
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Kerry Shine has instructed the Director of Public Prosecutions to appeal the sentence handed to Warren David Schneider.
Mr Schneider was sentenced to five years imprisonment but is eligible for parole after 12 months. He pleaded guilty to 12 offences of a sexual nature involving four complainants.
“I have read the sentencing remarks from the District Court and have received advice from the DPP on the adequacy of the sentence handed down and on appropriate sentences in similar cases,” Mr Shine said.
“In light of what I have read and the advice I have received I have decided to appeal the sentence on the basis that it is manifestly inadequate.”
