Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Kerry Shine has requested advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions on the chances of success of an appeal in relation to the sentence of Warren David Schneider.

Mr Schneider was sentenced to five years imprisonment suspended after 12 months. He pleaded guilty to 12 offences of a sexual nature involving four complainants.

“I have read the sentencing remarks from the District Court and have asked the DPP for advice on the adequacy of the sentence handed down and for advice on appropriate sentences in similar cases,” Mr Shine said.

“These are serious offences in which there is a great deal of public interest. I will consider the Director of Public Prosecutions advice before making any decision on an appeal.”
