The Honourable Kerry Shine

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Kerry Shine has instructed Crown Law to appeal the Supreme Court decision to release Raymond Yeo on a supervision order under the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003.

The State Government applied for the extension of Mr Yeo’s Continuing Detention Order however the Supreme Court ruled he should be released on a supervision order with 31 conditions including a curfew and electronic monitoring.

“I have reviewed a transcript of the Supreme Court’s decision and received a thorough advice from counsel engaged as to the chances of success on appeal,” Mr Shine said.

“The advice is that I appeal this decision and having considered this advice I have instructed Crown Law to appeal.”
