Minister for Transport, Trade, Employment and Industrial Relations
The Honourable John Mickel
TOOWOOMBA manufacturers and businesses will have an opportunity to meet trade experts and learn more about expanding their international export base, Minister for Trade John Mickel said today.
“Queensland Government trade specialists will share their knowledge of the market in fast-growing Taiwan with companies attending the seminar,” he said.
Mr Mickel said Queensland Trade and Investment Commissioner in Taiwan, Ms Elizabeth Sullivan would share her valuable insights on Taiwan.
Toowoomba-based companies Wellcamp Fabrications (Ezywalker) and Weis Frozen Foods have recently enjoyed export successes after being assisted in the region’s markets by the Trade Queensland office in Korea.
“We encourages exporters to look at the markets with increasing disposable income such as Taiwan to expand their export base,” Mr Mickel said.
“Companies should utilise the services the Trade Queensland office offers in Taiwan to make the most of opportunities on offer.”
The Trade Queensland office is organising an aviation trade mission to Taiwan in December 2007. This will be an opportunity to link Queensland companies involved in the aviation sector with representatives from leading airlines and aircraft manufacturers in Taiwan, one of the world’s fastest growing aviation markets.
Mr Mickel said the seminar is part of the annual Export Week, which recognises the important contribution of the exporting sector in Queensland to the State’s economic development and prosperity.
