Minister for Main Roads and Local Government
The Honourable Warren Pitt

Main Roads will officially hand over the keys to Guides Queensland today for their refurbished Ness Street facilities.

Main Roads Minister Warren Pitt said the original Guides facility had been relocated because of work on the new Hospital Bridge.

“Guides Queensland plays a valuable role in the local community . They have helped Main Roads plan the renovations to their building and contributed directly to improving its design," Mr Pitt said.

"The Guides had direct input into improvements to their facilities, which included installing showers and disabled toilets. We were delighted to give them the opportunity to choose their own tiles and colour scheme for their modernised home," Mr Pitt said.

He said the renovated building had many advantages over its predecessor.

"It is equipped with disabled facilities and is modern and larger than their previous building.

"We have also ensured the building is fenced for the safety of Guides and their visitors.

"The relocation of the building has also provided the Guides and their families with safe parking."

Main Roads representatives will hand over the keys to Donna and Karen from Guides Queensland today at an afternoon tea.

The Guides building is easy to locate at the Main Roads Depot on Ness Street.
