Logan and Redlands businesses on top of the world: Premier

Premier Anna Bligh today added her congratulations to those businesses that have taken their products and services to the world and won the Logan and Redlands Regional Export Awards.

The eight winners were announced at a special ceremony at the Logan Entertainment Centre tonight (11 October).

“Congratulations to each and every winner because your business achievements and innovation are making a valuable contribution to the Smart State,” Ms Bligh said.

“Well done to Thompson Meat Machinery and Inter-Ject International for taking out the Logan Regional Exporter of the Year Award 2007 and Redlands Regional Exporter of the Year Award 2007 respectively,” she said.

Thompson Meat Machinery is Australia’s leading manufacturer of meat processing machinery. The Thompson range includes mixer mincers, bandsaws, frozen block flakers, sausage fillers, hoists and vacuum tumblers. Thompson machines are well-recognised and have developed a strong reputation. Thompson machines are utilised in major processing plants in the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa.

Inter-Ject International’s prime focus is the manufacture and marketing of fuel system diagnostic equipment and solvents for automotive fuel and coolant systems. Inter-Ject products have become the benchmark for equipment and chemicals that give up to 25 per cent reduction in vehicle emissions. The Australian-made products are distributed worldwide to markets in North America, Europe, Asia and parts of Africa.

“All of the entrants have made significant contributions to Queensland’s economy, as well as helped create investment opportunities and showcased the Smart State vision.”

Ms Bligh said the calibre of the award winners was undeniable proof of the place Queensland has earned in the global business community.

“Our export sector benefits all Queenslanders and we will continue to forge ahead building new trade relationships and offering smart business solutions to the world.”

All regional applicants will be in the running for the Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards. Winners of these State awards will be announced at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Thursday 25 October.

Winner – Mavlab Pty Ltd
Established in 1970, Mavlab is a family owned company that specialises in the development, manufacture and marketing of veterinary pharmaceuticals, pet care products and horse products. The range extends from pharmaceuticals such as antibiotics and anaesthetics to grooming products and dog baths. Mavlab is licensed by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority, and exports to New Zealand, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. www.mavlab.com.au

Education Award
Winner – Learning Institute for Science and Technology Pty Ltd
Learning Institute for Science and Technology (LIST) develops, produces and distributes interactive educational software. Winner – Omlaw Pty Ltd
Omlaw – trading as Retracom – manufactures, supplies and installs insulated panel systems and transportable building solutions both domestically and overseas. Winner – Morris Corporation
