Minister for Tourism, Regional Development and Industry
The Honourable Desley Boyle

Cairns State Development Centre is running two workshops - for people taking their first steps in business and for established operators after some marketing tips.

Regional Development and Industry Minister Desley Boyle said the Cairns State Development Centre would run the Your First Step session on Wednesday 24 October, followed by the Smart Marketing workshop on 31 October.

“People who have decided to start a new business can come along and learn how to get their idea off the ground in the Your First Step information session,” Ms Boyle said.

“It outlines practical tips on how to make the start-up phase less daunting, and what to do to make a small business successful.”

She said Smart Marketing showed how to grow a business using marketing techniques.

“Marketing is an important aspect of your business: it can help you gain market share from competitors and have your business better recognised in the commercial world,” Ms Boyle said.

“The workshop offers advice on different marketing approaches to attract new customers and retain existing customers.

“It will give owners and operators new ideas for getting messages and products out there.”

The Your First Step information session and Smart Marketing workshop are on from 5.30pm-8.30pm on Wednesday 24 October and Wednesday 31 October respectively.

Both will be held at the State Development Centre, Cairns Port Authority Building, cnr Grafton & Hartley Street, at a cost of $33.00.
