Minister for Public Works, Housing and Information and Communication Technology
The Honourable Robert Schwarten
Acting Public Works Minister Judy Spence has today announced more than $20,000 in funding to give Brooweena State School’s Block A a fresh new look.
Ms Spence said the funding – from the Department of Public Works’ emergency maintenance fund – would go towards a complete external repaint of the block including the adjacent covered area, water tank, tank stand and link roof.
Ms Spence said the project was great news for the school community.
“The work will be programmed and completed as soon as possible with every effort being made to minimise disruption to classes,” Ms Spence said.
“The emergency maintenance fund was developed to complement existing maintenance programs and specifically to undertake projects that arose in the course of the year or that were unable to be completed by the school because of the magnitude of the cost.
“QBuild – the State Government’s construction and maintenance division – would manage the project.”
Ms Spence said the funding demonstrated the State Government’s commitment to properly maintaining public infrastructure for the benefit of the community.
