The Honourable Robert Schwarten
Staff and students at Kilcummin State School will benefit from an internal repaint of the school’s Block A, Acting Public Works Minister Judy Spence announced today.
Ms Spence said funding of more than $17,000 had been approved for the project from the Department of Public Works’ emergency maintenance fund.
“This project will give Block A a fresh new look and feel which will further inspire staff and students as they teach and learn,” Ms Spence said.
“The work will be programmed and completed as soon as possible with every effort being made to minimise disruption to classes.”
Ms Spence said the emergency maintenance fund was developed to complement existing maintenance programs and specifically to undertake projects that arose in the course of the year or that were unable to be completed by the school because of the magnitude of the cost.
She said QBuild – the State Government’s construction and maintenance division – would manage the project.
“This funding demonstrates the State Government’s commitment to properly maintaining public infrastructure for the benefit of the community,” Ms Spence said.
