NEW SUBURB OF SPRINGFIELD CENTRAL CREATED

Natural Resources and Water Minister Craig Wallace today announced the creation of a new suburb of Springfield Central in the Ipswich City Council area.

Mr Wallace said Springfield Central would be created from the existing suburb of Springfield Lakes.

The boundaries of Springfield Lakes and Spring Mountain will be adjusted as part of the change.

New boundaries are:

·Springfield Central will be south-west of the Springfield Greenbank Arterial between Springfield Lakes and Spring Mountain.

·Springfield Lakes will be south of the Centenary Highway and it will straddle the Springfield Greenbank Arterial at its southern boundary.

·A small area will be added to Spring Mountain in the north.

Springfield Central will include the commercial hub of the Springfield development and will be home to the Orion Shopping Centre, University of Southern Queensland, Springfield Tower and other future commercial businesses.

The new suburb Springfield Central will become official tomorrow after it is printed in the Queensland Government Gazette.

A plan of the changes is available for inspection at the Customer Service Centre, Department of Natural Resources and Water, Level 4, Hayden Centre, cnr East and South Sts, Ipswich.

The plan also can be seen at: Ipswich City Council Administration Building, South Street, Ipswich; Redbank Plains Library and the Springfield Lakes Information Centre.
