Appointments made to transport boards

New appointments to transport government-owned corporations throughout the state would further contribute to their board's already extensive experience and knowledge, Transport Minister John Mickel said today.
"We have reappointed a number of people who will continue to put their skills to good use in building the capabilities of our transport government-owned corporations," Mr Mickel said.
"We have also appointed Ross Dunning as the new chairman of the Townsville Port Authority following the retirement of the long-serving Ron Mclean, and four new directors across the boards.
"I thank Mr McLean for his committed work as chair. Mr Dunning has a strong history in ports as a previous chairman of the Port of Brisbane Corporation and the Central Queensland Port Authority.
"He brings to the port the engineering and management background which will assist the board to address the challenges facing the port as it meets the future needs of its users.
"This is a time of rapid economic and population growth, and there are many challenges facing services and infrastructure in Queensland.
"I am confident these talented people will continue to progress our ports and QR as key links in the state's transport infrastructure. Boards play a critical role in driving the achievements of government-owned corporations."
The state government today announced 27 appointments to transport government-owned corporations throughout the state. Mr Mickel said the terms of the new appointees would begin on 1 October 2007.
