Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister Assisting the Premier in Western Queensland
The Honourable Kerry Shine
Ombudsman David Bevan has been reappointed for another three-year term, Attorney-General Kerry Shine said today.
Mr Shine said Mr Bevan was appointed Ombudsman in September 2001, and he was reappointed for a further three-year term in September 2004.
"David Bevan has served as Ombudsman since 2001. With Executive Council’s approval, Mr Bevan’s appointment as Ombudsman will be extended another three years until September 2010," Mr Shine said.
"The Office of the Ombudsman is an independent complaints investigation agency. Its role is to make sure that public agencies - State Government departments and bodies, and local councils - act fairly and make the right decisions for Queenslanders."
The Parliamentary Legal, Constitutional and Administrative Review Committee was consulted on the reappointment.
