September holiday support: $14,000 for a safer Straddie
A youth support service has received a $14,000 grant to help ensure everyone on Stradbroke Island is able to enjoy this year’s September school holidays.
Youth Minister Warren Pitt said the grant would enable the Red Frogs organisation to provide youth outreach support and community engagement services on Stradbroke Island during the September holiday period.
“Concerns have been raised about some anti-social behaviour on Stradbroke Island during the September school holidays in previous years,” Mr Pitt said.
“Red Frogs Australia will be providing volunteer support services to young people who visit Stradbroke during the September school holidays.”
Mr Pitt said the Red Frogs program was run by Hotel Chaplaincy Australia and had been operating in Queensland for 11 years, providing visitation and referral services, and mediation between hotel management and youth.
