The Honourable Robert Schwarten

PRIME BRISBANE LAND UP FOR SALE

A prime subdivision sites in Warner has been released for sale by the Queensland Government.

Minister for Public Works, Housing and Information and Communication Technology Robert Schwarten announced the site was available for purchase for subdivision into residential lots.

“The 6.435-hectare Warner site is situated on Brisbane Road, 17 kilometres from Brisbane’s central business district,” Mr Schwarten said.

“Surrounded by established residential estates and close to schools, bus routes and a supermarket, this area has a strong growth forecast.

Mr Schwarten said strong demand for subdivided lots and population increases would make the site a popular acquisition for developers.

“As part of our commitment to keeping the Australian dream alive, we will require 10 percent of the lots to be sold to first home buyers,” he said.

“Under the terms of the sale, a further 10 percent of the lots are to be sold back to the Department of Housing to develop social housing for those in housing need.

“This is part of the Queensland Government’s response to the need for more land to be released to address the housing shortage.”

Mr Schwarten said the property will be marketed locally and throughout Australia for sale by way of an expression of interest.

Colliers International is marketing the land on behalf of the department.

Interested developers can contact Jeff Dolan on 0412 433 377 or Pat George on 0412 721 448 from Colliers International to obtain the invitation document. Offers close on Wednesday 17 October 2007.
