Two new appointments will bring strong regional and national experience to the Port of Brisbane Corporation board, Minister for Transport and Main Roads Paul Lucas announced today.

Mr Lucas said Bundaberg Port Authority Chair Glenn Toll and Director-General of the New South Wales Department of State and Regional Development Loftus Harris had been appointed to the board for three-year terms.

"I am very pleased to announce these two respected people will add their knowledge and experience to the wealth of talent already on the Port of Brisbane Corporation board," Mr Lucas said.

"I welcome Loftus Harris back to Queensland. He will be ending his time in New South Wales next month after 10 years as the Director-General of the Department of State and Regional Development.”

Mr Harris, a Queenslander, has a strong record of service to Queensland having served as Director General and Coordinator General, in the former Department of Premier, Economic and Trade Development from 1995 to 1996.

Mr Harris also brings the benefits of his 10 years in progressing the strategic development of New South Wales.

"His background will come at a good time for the Port of Brisbane which is expanding to meet an ever-growing demand for port facilities.

"Mr Toll is the chair of the Bundaberg Port Authority and will assist in guiding the merger between the Port of Brisbane and the Bundaberg Port Authority. He has been a valuable asset to Bundaberg and will remain so in his new role.

"Mr Toll's knowledge of Bundaberg, his strong involvement in Bundaberg's sporting and community associations, and his experience as a partner in the legal firm Baker O'Brien Toll Solicitors will assist both the Bundaberg region and the Port of Brisbane meet future challenges."

The appointments will fill the vacancies left through the resignations of board members Peter Annand and Mary Maher.

"We thank Mr Annand and Ms Maher for their work towards building on the work done by the Port of Brisbane Corporation during their time on the board," Mr Lucas said.
