Waiting times for rebates under the Home WaterWise Rebate Scheme have been reduced, despite application numbers remaining high.

Natural Resources and Water Minister Craig Wallace said in south east Queensland average processing times were down to 50 calendar days for applications received in the past 90 days.

This has been reduced from 58 days earlier this month.

Average statewide processing times have fallen from 50 to 44 days.

“I congratulate processing staff who are driving down waiting times,” Mr Wallace said.

“Continual administrative fine-tuning has paid dividends,” he said.

Currently the HWRS is receiving about 7000 applications a week.

Since the HWRS began over a year ago, nearly $110 million has been paid out in rebates for water tanks, water efficient washing machines, dual-flush toilet suites, showerheads, pool covers/rollers, grey water systems and garden products.

This includes rebates for over 95,000 rainwater tanks, nearly 60,000 washing machines and nearly 14,000 dual-flush toilet suites.
