North Queensland interior design company Limecut will be able to vie for bigger and better projects after successfully gaining its Quality Assurance (QA) accreditation.

State Development Minister John Mickel and Member for Cairns Desley Boyle said the successful completion of the Quality Assurance program meant that the Manunda-based company would now be recognised as delivering the highest quality service to its customers.

“Many private sector organisations and Government prefer to do business with companies that are accredited with Quality Assurance,” Ms Boyle said.

“Having this accreditation tells people that the organisation is meeting the highest possible standards of business management and operation and that this will be passed onto their customers every time.”

Limecut design director Sheila Sparks said it took about 18 months to review the company’s systems and become accredited but believed it was all worth the effort.

“Having the accreditation is an important part of our business,” Ms Sparks said.

“Initially we really wanted to improve our internal management – that was our key goal. We’ve always aimed to give our clients the best we could and our new processes are already helping us with this – particularly with our ability to easily track and monitor our projects.

Ms Sparks said although the company had netted fairly large projects in the past she was eager to tender for bigger projects, particularly in the government sector.

“It’s really frustrating to miss out on work decided in Brisbane and the southern states when we know we’re capable of doing it and doing it well - that’s partly why we made the effort to get accredited.

“Also I’ve found that organisations who’ve got the QA accreditation themselves recognise its importance in business so it also helps to lift our credibility.”
