Historic machinery draws international attention to central Queensland

Visitors from the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland and New Zealand are expected to attend the National Historical Machinery Association Rally in Biloela, central Queensland, this weekend.

The Rally is financially supported by the Queensland Government through its Queensland Events Regional Development Program.

Attorney-General Kerry Shine will officially open the 11th National Historical Machinery Association Rally at Queensland Heritage Park, Biloela at 12:30pm TOMORROW (21 July).

Mr Shine, who is the Minister Assisting the Premier in Western Queensland, said the Rally showcased historical machinery, which provided a valuable link with the past and a reminder of how to do things in the future.

“I look forward to seeing some of these machines still going strong and in perfect working order more than a century after they were made is a testament to the craftsmanship of that era,” Mr Shine said.

“Regional events like this deliver an enormous boost to local economies and for our State.”

“The Beattie Government established the Queensland Events Regional Development Program as a world-first initiative to help communities like this put on events like this Rally,” Mr Shine said.

“Since then, we have provided funding of almost $9 million to help support some 420 regional events all across Queensland.”
