EXPO DISPLAY TO DRIVE HOME DROUGHT AWARENESS

Water conservation and dealing with drought are key themes of a special display at this weekend’s Caboolture Farm Fantastic exhibition, Natural Resources and Water Minister Craig Wallace said today.

Farm Fantastic 2007 will be held from tomorrow through to Sunday (July 20 to 22).

Mr Wallace said the NRW display offered property owners valuable insights into sustainable management of land, water and vegetation resources and the chance to have their questions answered in person.

“With water conservation high on the agenda, the Natural Resources and Water display in the Leichhardt Pavilion will exhibit a range of water-saving devices and drought-tolerant plants,” Mr Wallace said.

Member for Pumicestone Carryn Sullivan said free four-minute shower timers would also be available, in support of the Target 140 campaign to cut average daily water use to 140 litres per person a day in South East Queensland.

“Staff from NRW will also be present to advise people on the range of incentives available under the Queensland Government’s Home and Garden WaterWise rebate schemes,” Ms Sullivan said

Officers from NRW’s compliance coordination unit and vegetation management branch will also be on hand to provide information and advice about land, vegetation and cultural heritage.

The Farm Fantastic expo will be held on a site at the intersection of the Bruce Highway and Pumicestone Road, Caboolture, opposite the Big Fish

Motorists travelling from the south are advised to look for the Pumicestone Road Exit and follow the signs. Those travelling from the north should look for the Toorbul/Donnybrook Exit and follow the signs.
