Minister for Police and Corrective Services
The Honourable Judy Spence

HANEEF HOUSED AT WOLSTON PRISON

Dr Mohammad Haneef has been transferred from police custody to the Wolston Correctional Centre, Police and Corrective Services Minister Judy Spence said today.

“Dr Haneef was moved after he failed to meet the bail conditions set by the Brisbane Magistrates Court,” Ms Spence said.

“This is the normal process for any prisoner who cannot meet bail conditions.”

Ms Spence said Dr Haneef will be managed as a terror prisoner under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

“He will be safely and securely managed and will be subject to an intensive management plan that sets out the details of every aspect of his daily life.

“He will be provided with access to his legal adviser, the Official Visitors scheme and the Chief Inspector.”

Ms Spence said he will be housed in a secure detention unit at Wolston away from other prisoners.
