Premier and Minister for Trade
The Honourable Peter Beattie
COMMUNITY CABINET TO BE HELD IN YARRABAH JULY 22-23
The Queensland Cabinet will be heading to the Yarrabah Aboriginal Community for a Community Cabinet Meeting on July 22 and 23, Premier Peter Beattie announced today.
“It will be the 104th Community Cabinet held since my Government came to office,” Mr Beattie said.
“I urge everyone in the region to come and join the Queensland Cabinet public forum on Sunday, July 22, at the Yarrabah Police Citizens and Youth Club (PCYC), Back Beach Road, Yarrabah.
“The formal meeting of State Cabinet will then be held at the Rural Transaction Centre on Monday 23 July. After Cabinet, a community reception will be held at the Yarrabah PCYC.
“Community Cabinets give residents an opportunity to discuss issues that concern them with Ministers.
“Community Cabinets are important because Ministers and Directors General get to meet and listen to Queenslanders in their own communities about their needs, their industries and their visions for the future of their State.
“The Cabinet and I, look forward to meeting the people of the Yarrabah at next month’s Community Cabinet.
“I thank the Member for Mulgrave and Cabinet Minister Warren Pitt for his invitation for the Cabinet to meet in Yarrabah,” Mr Beattie said.
The Premier urged local residents wanting to meet with members of his Cabinet to apply for a formal deputation. Formal deputations must be received by the Community Cabinet Unit no later than midday on July 11, 2007.
