Minister for State Development, Employment and Industrial Relations
The Honourable John Mickel
FROM THE LOUNGE ROOM TO THE NATIONAL STAGE: GC IT COMPANY WINS BIG
Minister for State Development John Mickel today congratulated a local Gold Coast company that’s recently snapped up a national contract worth almost half a million dollars.
Up against some of the biggest players in the IT training industry, Minister Mickel said Computer Training Options (CTO) had won a $484 000 contract that would see the company roll out its computer training services at sites across Australia over the next three months.
CTO is a computer training company that provides customised on-site training for computer software programs. The company has more than 200 contract trainers Australia-wide.
“CTO is an Australia-wide computer training company that’s grown from a home business to national success story in 15 years,” Mr Mickel said.
“Five years ago the company relocated its head quarters from New South Wales to the Gold Coast and two years ago opened its first and only public training centre.
“Since moving to Queensland the company has experienced steady growth, registering 100 per cent growth annually for the past three years running, and will expand its Gold Coast training centre next week to cater for growing demand.”
CTO managing director and founder Rosy Jansen said the company had won the tender ahead of some of the biggest training companies in Australia.
“It’s the biggest contract we’ve ever won. I was just thrilled when the client notified us of our successful tender.
“We knew we were up against some big competition when we had other companies contacting us to request the use of our trainers for a ‘big contract’ they had coming up!”
Ms Jansen credits the Gold Coast State Development Centre with the business’s early success and growth.
“About four or five years ago I met someone at a networking event that recommended I contact the State Development Centre as a starting point,” Ms Jansen said.
“It was the best thing we ever did.
“We’ve now developed a business growth plan and have more work than we can handle.”
Ms Jansen said she maintained ongoing contact with State Development officers and regularly sent her staff to the Centre’s monthly business workshops.
“The opportunities that are available to small businesses through the Queensland Government are fabulous. It’s great to have access to programs that really help with business growth.
“I recommend them to every business owner I meet.”
Minister Mickel said the Government’s State Development Centres, located throughout the state, offered a host of business incentives, advice and tips for building a successful enterprise.
“The Queensland Government provides a wealth of information and assistance to businesses in this State.”
