Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister Assisting the Premier in Western Queensland
The Honourable Kerry Shine

New Brisbane Childrens Court Magistrate

A new Brisbane Childrens Court Magistrate was appointed by Governor in Council, Attorney-General Kerry Shine said.

Mr Shine said Sandgate Magistrate Pamela Dowse would replace Magistrate Tony Pascoe, who retires as the Brisbane Childrens Court Magistrate this month.

“Magistrate Pascoe was appointed to the Magistracy in 1988 and he has served as the Childrens Court Magistrate since 1996,” Mr Shine said.

“I commend Magistrate Pascoe on his service and the leadership he has provided to the Childrens Court over more than a decade.”

The Childrens Court Magistrate deals with offences by people under 17 years of age. The court also exercises jurisdiction under the Child Protection Act 1999 and deals with applications for a range of child protection orders.

Mr Shine said Magistrate Dowse would bring a wealth of experience to the position.

“Magistrate Dowse was appointed as a Magistrate in 1997. She served in Brisbane, Southport, Beenleigh, Inala and Beaudesert before her appointment to Kingaroy (1998 to 2002) and more recently to Sandgate (since 2002),” Mr Shine said.

“I wish Magistrate Dowse well in her new position.”
