The Honourable Robert Schwarten
MORE BUILDING SUPPORT SERVICES IN MARYBOROUGH
Maryborough is set to have access to a wider range of products and services from the Queensland Building Services Authority (BSA), Housing Minister Robert Schwarten announced today.
Mr Schwarten said a building boom in the Wide Bay-Burnett region had prompted the BSA to upgrade its Maryborough office to offer enhanced building advice and services.
“Previously, the Maryborough Office had been a satellite office, supporting the BSA’s Sunshine Coast office in compliance and dispute investigations,” Mr Schwarten said.
“But since 2001, building activity in the region has almost doubled and there are no signs of slowdown, with more than 6,200 building jobs insured in the area by BSA last financial year.
“With more than 5% of all the BSA’s licensees living and working in the area, the BSA decided to upgrade the local office to give local contractors enhanced support and guidance.”
The Maryborough office will provide residents with licensing, dispute management and resolution, home warranty insurance and customer services.
BSA General Manager Ian Jennings said there was also a wide range of educational material available and residents were welcome to visit the office to speak to one of the BSA’s staff about any building matters.
“The BSA’s Maryborough team is led by Mick Rendell, who has 40 years’ experience in the building industry and holds an Open Builder licence,” Mr Jennings said.
“The area serviced by the Maryborough Office extends from the northern boundaries of Noosa and Maroochy Shires in the south, to Miriam Vale/Agnes Water in the north with the western towns of Monto, Mundubbera and Gayndah included.
“The major building activity is occurring in Hervey Bay, the Bundaberg/Burnett Shire, Rainbow Beach/Tin Can Bay, Maryborough and Gympie. “
The office, at Suite1/208 Lennox Street, is located in Maryborough to achieve the best service the Wide Bay and Burnett region.
Parking is available in the adjacent council parking areas. The office, equipped with EFTPOS facilities, is open from 8.30am until 4.30pm.
The office can be contacted by phoning 1300 272 272. The office fax number is 4122 3814 and the postal address is PO Box 796, Maryborough Qld 4650.
