Deputy Premier, Treasurer and Minister for Infrastructure
The Honourable Anna Bligh
Seeney fails the honesty challenge: Bligh
7 June 2007
Queensland Treasurer, Anna Bligh has condemned the Opposition Leader’s Budget Reply as “Long on whinging and short on ideas”.
“In his Budget Reply Mr Seeney failed to offer any alternative vision and failed to outline which projects he would cut to avoid borrowings”
“It is simply not honest to oppose the Governments borrowing for Infrastructure program and fail to tell Queenslanders which major projects would be slashed by a coalition government” Ms Bligh said
“It’s easy to whinge and moan, but much harder to tell Queenslanders how an alternate Government would fund the projects Queenslanders need to secure future economic growth – Mr Seeney has comprehensively failed this test” said Ms Bligh.
“Unbelievably the only initiative the alternative government offered was to give the environment shadow minister a new responsibility – sustainability.
“Sadly, this amounts to an admission that no one in the Coalition has been responsible for this up until now.
“ This is an Opposition that is long on whinging, short on ideas,” said Ms Bligh.
