Queensland Deputy Premier and Treasurer Anna Bligh said that the State’s monthly unemployment rate (trend) has fallen again from 3.7% in April to 3.5% in May.

“This is quite extraordinary,” said Ms Bligh.

“Trends jobs growth in Queensland continued to be driven by full-time employment

“In May trend employment (Full-time) increased by 6,400. Over the year, total employment rose by 104,300 – 37% of the jobs created nationally.

“That again is special knowing that we have just 20% of the nation’s population,” she said.

There have been more than 100,000 full-time jobs created in the State in the past year.

“We have been below the national unemployment rate for nearly three years.”

“The Beattie Government’s “jobs, jobs, jobs mantra is working,” she said.
