Premier and Minister for Trade
The Honourable Peter Beattie

MEDIA LEADERS JOIN QUEENSLAND’S 150TH CELEBRATIONS

Three leading media organisations will join forces with the Queensland Government to educate and excite the people of Queensland about Queensland’s 150th Celebrations in 2009, Premier Peter Beattie announced today.

APN Australian Publishing, Quest Community Newspapers and Network Ten (in partnership with Southern Cross Broadcasting) will be the official media partners of Queensland’s 150th Celebrations.

Mr Beattie said each of the partners had committed to communicating about the celebrations to their audiences from now through until the end of 2009.

“These partners allow us to reach nearly every household in every corner of the State and communicate to the people of Queensland what 2009 is about and how they can get involved,” Mr Beattie said.

“However, it is not just professional capability and opportunity that has drawn together these partners and Q150. It is a shared enthusiasm and excitement for what lies ahead in 2009.

“I am delighted they are on aboard for what is shaping up to be a year to remember.”

Mr Beattie said that while the media organisations were the first companies to partner with the celebrations, there were many opportunities for members of Queensland’s corporate community to get involved.

“2009 is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Queensland companies – from the very small to the very large – to stand up and show their Queensland colours,” he said.

“Rarely do opportunities become available for companies to connect with Queenslanders across the State in such a grassroots and all-embracing program of activities and events.

“I urge Queensland companies to join in and demonstrate their commitment and support to the State and its residents.”

In addition to assembling a small, exclusive family of sponsors, Queensland’s 150th Celebrations has created a corporate club of just 150 members called Club 150.

Club 150 will offer its members a range of business and Government networking opportunities, as well as recognition benefits, for an investment of $10,000.

All corporate opportunities, including membership of Club 150, are open now with further information available at www.q150.qld.gov.au .
