SCHWARTEN ANNOUNCES FUNDING FOR MARYBOROUGH HOME ASSIST SECURE

Housing Minister Robert Schwarten today announced Maryborough/Burnett/Cooloola Districts Home Assist Secure would receive more than $556,000 from the State Government to help deliver services.

Mr Schwarten said the funding for Maryborough/Burnett/Cooloola Districts Home Assist Secure was part of a three year funding commitment from the State Government to this valuable service.

“This is great news for Maryborough/Burnett/Cooloola Districts Home Assist Secure and the clients it serves,” Mr Schwarten said.

“Home Assist Secure - managed by the Housing Department - plays a vital role in the Maryborough community.

“It removes some of the practical housing-related difficulties experienced by the elderly and people with a disability who want to stay living in their homes for as long as possible.”

Home Assist Secure provides free information and referrals about home maintenance, repairs, modifications, falls prevention and home security.

The funding for Maryborough/Burnett/Cooloola Districts Home Assist Secure is part of more than $14.4 million allocated to 41 Home Assist Secure providers across the State this year.

“Home Assist Secure is doing a great job of helping elderly people and people with a disability feel secure in their own homes for longer,” he said.

“It is one of a number of private housing initiatives managed by the Department of Housing that provides housing assistance to Queenslanders.”
