Minister for Environment and Multiculturalism
The Honourable Lindy Nelson-Carr

TICKETS ON SALE TO RED CARD RACISM

Tickets are on sale for the Queensland Roars Against Racism preseason match on 1 July featuring Queensland Roar kicking-off against South African Premier League side Supersport United.

Multiculturalism Minister Lindy Nelson-Carr urged the community to get behind this match to “red card” racism.

“This is the first major event of the Queensland Roars Against Racism campaign the Premier launched during his official reception in Johannesburg on 21 March,” Ms Nelson-Carr said.

“The campaign is a three year partnership between Multicultural Affairs Queensland and the Queensland Roar FC that aims to send positive messages in support of harmony and social cohesion.

“The Queensland Roars Against Racism preseason match will not only send those messages to the community, it will also be a great afternoon and evening out for the whole family.

“A fantastic program of carnivale-style entertainment will start at 1pm on the Suncorp Stadium concourse with music, dance, stalls and giveaways.

“Then there will be a celebrity match before the feature game between Queensland Roar and the South African Premier League side Supersport United.

“We have had an overwhelming response from celebrities wanting to be involved on the day including Catherine Freeman, James Blundell, William McInnes, Andrew Symonds, Nick Earls, Steve Renouf, Lisa Curry-Kenny, Ranger Stacey and Ranger Tim.”

Ms Nelson-Carr said musicians and performers that featured in the Queensland Multicultural Festival would entertain patrons at half time.
