The Honourable Margaret Keech

Tourism and Wine Industry Development Minister Margaret Keech today unveiled the Granite Belt’s new look at a brand launch in Stanthorpe.

Mrs Keech said it was great to see the region reinventing itself with a new branding strategy designed to promote all that the Granite Belt had to offer.

Launching the brand at the Queensland College of Wine Tourism, Mrs Keech said it reflected the professional, modern face of the region’s wine industry.

“Queensland’s wine industry continues to grow thanks to innovative marketing and branding such as that which we see here today,” Mrs keech said.

“The Granite Belt has long been one of Queensland’s premier wine-producing regions.

“This facelift marks the start of the region’s second century in winemaking and I’m sure it will help draw more and more visitors to this wonderful destination.”

The design is based on a layered leaf concept, reflecting the layers of diversity of the region’s key attributes.

Mrs Keech said the Beattie Government recognised the importance of the wine industry to Queensland and was committed to supporting the State’s wine producers.

The College of Wine Tourism was a great example of what the industry and Government could achieve through strong partnerships, she said.

“It’s one of many fantastic initiatives developed through the Wine Industry Development strategy,” Mrs Keech said.

“This five-year plan, due to run until 2009, has already delivered a host of great schemes designed to drive industry growth.

“It’s great to see the industry continuing to promote the region and its products through innovative new marketing and branding schemes.

“I’m sure the new Granite Belt brand will be a huge success and I congratulate all those involved in it’s development.”
