Qld’s “nation’s jobs generator” title remains: Bligh

Queensland’s trend unemployment rate has fallen to 3.7%.
“Stunning – simply stunning,” said Acting Premier and Treasurer Anna Bligh.
The national unemployment rate remains unchanged at 4.5%
“We are in an unbelievable and enviable position,” she said.
“This is the 14th consecutive month that the State’s trend unemployment rate has declined.
The 3.7% April figure is down from a revised 3.8%.
Queensland remains the nation’s jobs generator – to the year ended April 2007 we created 114,300 jobs - 41% of all jobs across the nation.
“Again this is an outstanding result.
“Queensland has been under – or at - the national unemployment rate since July 2004.
“In April Queensland created 6,900 of the nation’s 18,600 jobs.
“The labour force participation rate climbed slightly from 67.5% to a new high of 67.6% - the highest of any state in Australia,” said Ms Bligh.
