Queensland Professional Standards Council appointments
Members of the Queensland Professional Standards Council to ensure consistency in standards for professional occupations were appointed by Executive Council today, Attorney-General and Justice Minister Kerry Shine said today.
Mr Shine said Executive Council has also approved Brisbane barrister Justin Harper as the new Queensland member of the Professional Standards Councils operating across Australia.
“Professional Standards Councils operate in all jurisdictions and the members are drawn from all States, Territories and the Commonwealth,” Mr Shine said.
Mr Harper is a barrister, whose major areas of practice include personal injury, insurance, administrative law and defamation.
Mr Harper’s appointment is until 30 June 2008.
Mr Shine said members of other Professional Standards Councils have been appointed as members of the Queensland Professional Standards Council.
These members are Brian Rayment QC (New South Wales), Steven Cole (Western Australia), Robert Beaton (New South Wales), Esther Alter (Victoria), Ronald Farrell (Victoria), Joanne Metcalfe (ACT), Iain Summers (Northern Territory), Madeleine Ogilvie (Tasmania), Terry Evans (South Australia) and Warwick Wilkinson (Commonwealth).
