Minister for Health
The Honourable Stephen Robertson
A new 40-bed nursing home at Warwick will provide a high standard of care for local residents, Health Minister Stephen Robertson said today.
Mr Robertson officially opened the Oaks Residential Aged Care Facility today.
“I’m proud of the fact that the Beattie Government has provided 100 percent of the funding for this project,” he said.
“This purpose-built facility will help to provide a very high standard of care.
“It was designed to meet the needs of residents and the accreditation standards set by the Australian Government.
“The modern design ensures privacy and dignity for residents, while creating a safe and secure environment that looks and feels like home.”
Mr Robertson said the Warwick community had played an important role in shaping the new facility.
“I am told the RSL Ladies Auxiliary donated an oil painting displayed in the activity and dining areas, the Warwick Woodcrafters restored all the dining chairs and the Warwick Lions Club donated the bird aviary,” he said.
“It is this kind of community spirit that will ensure The Oaks Residential Aged Care Facility will be enjoyed by residents, families and their friends.”
Mr Robertson said the development also delivered a boost for the local economy.
“During construction two-thirds of the subcontractors came from the Darling Downs region ensuring more local jobs,” he said.
Residents first moved into the new aged care home in February.
