The Honourable Warren Pitt

Accommodation shortage to be discussed at Wangan Ministerial Regional Community Forum

The implications of the housing and accommodation shortage will be on the agenda when the Ministerial Regional Community Forum for far north Queensland heads to Wangan on Tuesday, 8 May.

Communities Minister Warren Pitt will attend the forum, together with the Minister for Tourism, Fair Trading, Wine Industry Development and Women, Margaret Keech and the Regional Queensland Councillor for Far North Queensland and Member for Barron River, Steven Wettenhall.

Mr Pitt said Queensland Government Ministers and Members of Parliament would discuss the implications of the housing and accommodation shortage, issues facing young people today, and social infrastructure and recovery after Cyclone Larry with regional representatives, known as forum members.

“I encourage anyone interested in local issues to attend the forum as part of the public audience and listen to the views of forum members and the attending MPs,” Mr Pitt said.

The forum will be held at the Wangan Sports Hall, 19 Cheshire Street, Wangan, from 9.15 am.

After the forum, members of the public will have the opportunity to present topics to forum members for consideration.

Mr Pitt said the popular Ministerial Regional Community Forums were held simultaneously in 10 locations throughout Queensland four times a year, enabling Queenslanders to get involved in local issues and help develop local solutions.
