Minister for Communities, Disability Services, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships
The Honourable Warren Pitt
Climate change to be discussed at Cloncurry Ministerial Regional Community Forum
Climate change will be on the agenda when the Ministerial Regional Community Forum for the North Queensland region heads to Cloncurry on Tuesday, 8 May.
Communities Minister Warren Pitt said Queensland Government Ministers and Members of Parliament would discuss government strategies to address climate change with regional representatives, known as forum members.
“Forum members will be asked to provide feedback on the effect of climate change in their communities,” Mr Pitt said.
“There will also be discussions on a number of issues raised at the community consultation held prior to the forum in Hughenden in March.
“I encourage anyone interested in local issues to attend the forum as part of the public audience and listen to the views of forum members and the attending MPs.”
The MPs scheduled to attend the Cloncurry Ministerial Regional Community Forum are:
• Minister for Environment and Multiculturalism, Lindy Nelson-Carr
• Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier, Treasurer and Minister for Infrastructure, Neil Roberts, and
• Regional Queensland Councillor for North Queensland and Member for Mount Isa, Betty Kiernan.
The forum will be held at Cloncurry Shire Hall, 19 Scarr Street, Cloncurry, from 9 am.
Mr Pitt said the popular Ministerial Regional Community Forums were held simultaneously in 10 locations throughout Queensland four times a year, enabling Queenslanders to get involved in local issues and help develop local solutions.
