The Honourable Warren Pitt

Youth engagement to be discussed at Deception Bay Ministerial Regional Community Forum

Giving young people a voice in decisions that affect them and their community will be on the agenda when the Ministerial Regional Community Forum for the Sunshine Coast region heads to Deception Bay on Tuesday, 8 May.

Communities Minister Warren Pitt said Queensland Government Ministers and Members of Parliament would discuss the issue of youth engagement with regional representatives known as forum members.

“I encourage anyone interested in local issues to attend the forum as part of the public audience and listen to the views of forum members and the attending MPs,” Mr Pitt said.

The MPs scheduled to attend the Deception Bay Ministerial Regional Community Forum are:
• Minister for Education and Training and Minister for the Arts, Rod Welford
• Minister for Local Government, Planning and Sport, Andrew Fraser.

The forum will be held at the Deception Bay Community Hall, corner of Bayview Terrace and Ewart Street, Deception Bay, from 10.30am, after a workshop for young people at 9 am and morning tea at 10 am.

Mr Pitt said the popular Ministerial Regional Community Forums were held simultaneously in 10 locations throughout Queensland four times a year, enabling Queenslanders to get involved in local issues and help develop local solutions.
