The Honourable Warren Pitt
Workshop to be held at Ipswich Ministerial Regional Community Forum
Climate change will be on the agenda when the Ministerial Regional Community Forum for the Moreton region heads to Ipswich on Tuesday, 8 May.
Communities Minister Warren Pitt said Queensland Government Ministers and Members for Parliament would discuss government strategies to address climate change with regional representatives, known as forum members.
“Forum members will be asked to outline the effect of climate change in their communities,” Mr Pitt said.
Mr Pitt said the forum would be preceded by a workshop, facilitated by forum members, on the topic of ‘Policy implementation and practical outcomes’.
“Members of the community are invited to attend the workshop and contribute to discussion on this issue,” he said.
“Queensland Government Ministers and Members of Parliament will later discuss the feedback from the workshop with forum members.
“I encourage anyone interested in local issues to participate in the workshop and join the forum audience to listen to the views of forum members and the attending MPs.”
The MPs scheduled to attend the Ipswich Ministerial Regional Community Forum are:
• Minister for Health, Stephen Robertson
• Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Transport, Phil Reeves
• Regional Queensland Councillor for Moreton and Member for Ipswich West, Wayne Wendt.
The forum will be held at the Ipswich International Hotel, 43 South Street, Ipswich, from 11 am, with registration for the workshop starting from 9 am. For more information or to RSVP, contact the regional office of the Department of Communities on 3280 1031.
