BOOST TO PUBLIC HOUSING STOCKS IN COOLANGATTA

Housing Minister Robert Schwarten today announced the State Government will three one bedroom apartments and five two bedroom apartments in Coolangatta to boost public housing stocks.

Mr Schwarten said the construction represented a total investment of more than $2.6 million in housing in Coolangatta.

“I am delighted that this construction will make more affordable accommodation available in this area.”

Ms Schwarten said the private rental market was becoming more unaffordable for low income earners and this type of housing was needed.

“This latest investment builds on the Beattie Government’s strong commitment to public housing.

“More than $32 million has been spent on housing and housing-related services in Currumbin since 1998.”
