Minister for Health
The Honourable Stephen Robertson
NEW WEBSITE TO DRIVE CONSULTATION FOR NEW QLD CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
Health Minister Stephen Robertson today launched a new website to inform the community about progress on the new Queensland Children’s Hospital development.
Mr Robertson said the website was part of the community consultation strategy Talking and Planning Together, released last week.
He said the website – www.health.qld.gov.au/childrenshospital – was an important part of the Beattie Government’s efforts to ensure the hospital is built to meet the needs and expectations of Queensland families and the community.
“The new website provides information about development timelines and planning initiatives as well as an overview of the project,” Mr Robertson said.
“It will also be a valuable tool in community consultation.
“The website encourages feedback and I expect over the life of this project we will hear from many patients and their families, clinicians and other stakeholders.”
Mr Robertson said the document Talking and Planning Together outlined the State Government’s approach to community consultation for the new hospital.
“We will consult widely with families and young people about their hopes and aspirations for the new hospital,” he said.
Mr Robertson said young Queenslanders were already playing an important part in shaping the new hospital through the Youth Advisory Forum.
“Since I called for nominations last week, we have been overwhelmed with response from past patients wanting to have their say on the new Queensland Children’s Hospital,” he said.
“Patients are our toughest critics so we particularly want to hear their views.”
The 400-bed Queensland Children’s Hospital will be built adjacent to the current Mater Children’s Hospital and merges the Royal Children’s Hospital, Mater Children’s Hospital and paediatric cardiac service at the Prince Charles Hospital.
