Acting Magistrate’s appointment extended
The appointment of acting Magistrate Gary Finger has been extended for a further 12 months, Attorney-General Kerry Shine said.
Mr Shine said Mr Finger was appointed an acting Magistrate for 12 months in April 2006. The extension of Mr Finger’s appointment as acting Magistrate is now due to expire in April 2008.
Mr Finger has extensive experience working as an officer of courts across the State including Brisbane, Weipa, Chinchilla, Ipswich, Bowen, Bundaberg, Cairns and most recently Southport.
“The appointment of acting Magistrates supports the operation of Magistrates Courts in Queensland, in particular in centres where the court is conducted by a single Magistrate,” Mr Shine said.
“There are 85 Magistrates in Queensland.”
