GENERAL COSGROVE DELIVERS FINAL RECOVERY REPORT

The Head of Queensland’s Operation Recovery Task Force, General Peter Cosgrove met with Premier Peter Beattie today for the last time in his official capacity.

Mr Beattie took the opportunity to personally thank the General and to congratulate him and the Task Force for their outstanding contribution to the recovery of Far North Queensland.

“Cyclone Larry brought devastation to the Far North unlike anything we’d seen in Queensland before,” Mr Beattie said.

“General Cosgrove’s contribution to the recovery effort has been invaluable, as has the efforts of the entire Operation Recovery Task Force,” he said.

General Cosgrove presented the Task Force’s final report to the Premier, who will take it to Cabinet next week.

“Once Cabinet has had an opportunity to consider this report on Monday, I look forward to tabling it in Parliament next week,” he said.

“General Cosgrove has delivered a document that will help form a template for Queensland’s recovery operations in the future and this is a significant legacy that he and the Task Force leave behind.”
