Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister Assisting the Premier in Western Queensland
The Honourable Kerry Shine

New President of Children Services Tribunal appointed

A new President of the Children Services Tribunal has been appointed for a three-year term, Attorney-General Kerry Shine said today.

Mr Shine said the appointment of Julie Ford, who has served as the Tribunal's acting President and Deputy President, as the Tribunal's President was approved by Executive Council today.

The Children Services Tribunal was established in 2001 to review certain decisions about the services to children and young people in the care of the Department of Child Safety.

"Ms Ford has been a Member of the Tribunal since it was established in 2001," Mr Shine said.

Mr Shine said Ms Ford is a qualified social worker with experience in the provision of community services.

Ms Ford assumed the role of acting President after the then President Susan Gardiner was appointed acting President of the Guardianship and Administration Tribunal (GAAT) in July last year.  In November last year, Ms Gardiner was officially appointed GAAT President.
