Minister for Transport and Main Roads
The Honourable Paul Lucas
Victoria Point Intersection upgrade
A $1 million intersection upgrade at Victoria Point has delivered less traffic congestion and a substantial boost to road safety.
Parliamentary Secretary for Main Roads, Andrew McNamara, said the upgrade at the intersection of Cleveland-Redland Bay Road, Benfer Road and Clay Gully Road, is a win for motorists and pedestrians.
“The intersection has had a complete overhaul with the addition of turning lanes and a staged pedestrian crossing.
“Not only have we delivered improved traffic flow for motorists, the revamp has seen a major safety boost for pedestrians crossing the busy intersection.
“And it’s by no means the end of the road improvement story in the Redland region,” Mr McNamara said.
$190 million will be spent on the regions roads over the next five years under the South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan and Program.
Projects include:
- Redland Bay (Panorama Drive – Cleveland-Redland Bay Road) Duplicate 2 to 4 lanes (construction is underway)
- Cleveland-Redland Bay Road (South Street – Boundary Road) Duplication
- Capalaba-Victoria Point Road (Vienna Road – Redland Bay Road) Duplication
- Redland Sub-Arterial (Mt Gravatt-Capalaba Road – Tingalpa Creek) Duplication
- Redland Bay Road (Tingalpa Creek – Taylor Road) Duplication
- Capalaba-Cleveland (Shore Street/Gordon Street) Intersection upgrade
- Cleveland-Redland Bay Road (Magnolia Road – Ziegenfusz Road) Intersection upgrade
Member for Redland, John English, said over the past year $11.8 million worth of intersection and road upgrades had been delivered for the Redland area.
“The Victoria point upgrade is yet another example of the Queensland Government delivering vital road infrastructure for the rapidly growing Redland community.
"This is a win for the community and we’ll be seeing a lot more road construction over coming years with the roll out of the South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan and Program.
"Continuous investment in the region’s infrastructure is important to boosting safety on our roads," Mr English said.
