Regional issues considered at regional forum in SW Qld
Members of the Ministerial Regional Community Forum for Darling Downs and South West Queensland have highlighted issues of interest that will guide the development of proposals for the next three years.
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Kerry Shine, Mines and Energy Minister Geoff Wilson and Parliamentary Secretary to the Communities Minister Stirling Hinchliffe met with local community representatives, known as forum members, in Port Douglas yesterday to identify the links between these issues and the process of planning for the future of the region.
Mr Shine is also the Minister Assisting the Premier in Western Queensland.
“I thank the community, and in particular the forum members, for getting involved in the forum process,” Mr Shine said.
“These forums help government better understand the needs of regional Queensland.
“During the forum meeting, the Government also reported back on an issue that was raised at a previous forum, concerning challenges associated with the delivery of quality education and training in rural and remote areas.”
Mr Shine said he encouraged people to contact their local forum members to suggest issues for consideration at future forums.
Simultaneous forum events were run today in 10 different regional areas: Port Douglas, Hughenden, Sarina, Yeppoon, Tiaro, Caloundra, North Lakes, Fernvale, Surfers Paradise and Port Douglas
The next Ministerial Regional Community Forum will be held in May, with the location and date to be advised.
