The Honourable Warren Pitt
Regional issues considered at regional forum in Port Douglas
Members of the Ministerial Regional Community Forum for Far North Queensland have highlighted issues of interest that will guide the development of proposals for the next three years.
Communities and Disability Services Minister Warren Pitt and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Transport and Main Roads Phil Reeves met with local community representatives, known as forum members, in Port Douglas today to identify the links between these issues and the process of planning for the future of the region.
“I thank the community, and in particular the forum members, for getting involved in the forum process,” Mr Pitt said.
“These forums help government better understand the needs of regional Queensland.
“Today the government also reported back on an issue that was raised at a previous forum, concerning challenges associated with the delivery of quality education and training in rural and remote areas.”
Mr Pitt encouraged people to contact their local forum members to suggest issues for consideration at future forums.
Forum member contact details and further information about the forum process can be obtained by contacting the Department of Communities on 4039 8995.
Simultaneous forum events were run today in 10 different regional areas: Surat, Hughenden, Sarina, Yeppoon, Tiaro, Caloundra, North Lakes, Fernvale, Surfers Paradise and Port Douglas
The next Ministerial Regional Community Forum will be held in May, with the location and date to be advised.
